Another young guy in a young church with a young family who passed. It is a trying season of the remembrance of our frailty. I think we are all learning a ton from Matt's suffering, and praying a ton. I've never met him (I'm no rock star church planter like you) but like so many other have been hugely impacted by his faithful teaching. It's amazing how much of a comfort the truth of God's absolute and perfect sovereignty is during a time of suffering. Matt faithfully teaches that truth, and seeing him hold on to it even more tightly during this time shows how comforting doctrine can be. What you say resonates with me not only as I'm well in my thirties and have young children, but specially because I am also a pastor with all that it means in terms of living upfront and being watched both in private (family) and in public (church). In times like this ,one is very much aware of his own weakness and cannot rely but on the strength of Another, for who is sufficient in his own strength for these things?
